Hand Laundry

Old Iron“My wardrobe consists of antique clothes - many of my designs, plus shoes and shirts from Brooks Brothers and Paul Stuart.” - Calvin Klein

Fine cotton shirts, blouses and linens should never be commercially laundered. They will last longer if gently washed. The commercial process is too aggressive and will shorten their lifespan.

At my shops your finest shirts, blouses and linens are taken care of better than you would be able to at home.

Your items that can be laundered are first pre-treated to loosen stains and then gently washed in our oversized wet cleaning machines. Our wet cleaning equipment can mimic gentle hand washing for your delicate linens and cottons.

Air drying or drying with “soft heat” is the next step, but we always iron your linens slightly damp to get a “crisp” finish.

Our hand laundry department then irons your linens and cottons “by hand” the old fashioned way. We never use a roller press or robotic shirt pressing equipment that a commercial laundry would use, it’s not the the right way.

Shirts and blouses are ironed with the utmost care with special attention taken to the bias cut of the collar and cuffs. French cuffs are hand rolled for a soft edge. Shirts are then carefully placed on a hanger with tissue or hand folded.

Household linens are tissued and then boxed so you can put them away in a snap once they come home.

If you have us take care of your linens and cottons, you will save time and get them back better than doing them at home. We have the right equipment to make your cottons and linens look “better than new."
